EIG has launched a new renewables platform in Chile that will now manage its most famous Chilean asset, the 210-MW Cerro Dominador PV and concentrated solar power (CSP) complex, and other plants and projects in the South American country.

The Grupo Cerro platform will also hold recently acquired hydropower producer Anpac, which owns a portfolio of 11 small and medium-sized run-of-river hydroelectric stations in the O’Higgins, El Maule, Bio Bio and La Araucania regions of Chile. Anpac has a 110-MW portfolio that includes operational power plants and projects in various stages of construction and development in both the spot and stabilised-tariff markets, EIG said.

Grupo Cerro launches with over 280 MW of installed capacity in Chile, including 100 MW of PV and 110 MW of CSP at Cerro Dominador, Latin America’s first CSP plant. The new entity also manages the 690-MW Likana Solar CSP project, the 600-MW Pampa Union PV project, and more than 40 MW of run-of-river hydroelectric power plants, added EIG.

“These plants, combined with our Likana Solar and Pampa Union projects now under development, will help diversify our renewable energy portfolio geographically to be able to further secure low-cost renewable energy production for the Chilean market and continue supplying clean power throughout the country 24 hours a day,” commented Grupo Cerro CEO Fernando Gonzalez.
