ESTELA, the European Solar Thermal Electricity Association, has appointed Marcel Bial as its new Managing Director.
As former head of System Development at the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) following his position as Secretary General of the Union for the Coordination of Transmission of Electricity (UCTE) in Brussels from 2002 to 2009, Marcel Bial has an in-depth experience of both the international activities of European Transmission System Operators and the management of European associations and stakeholders engagement also across EU and non-EU countries.

He also used this background in the last years as consultant a.o. to EU-funded projects
.
Moreover, he also has over 25 years of experience in the industry with Verbund Group in Vienna, Austria. We believe that, with his familiarity with the electricity sector in a wide European perspective, he will be a great asset to ESTELA.
Bial takes on the new role on the 1st May 2013.
