As large scale CSP projects in the Middle East and North Africa steadily emerge, international as well as regional companies are rapidly increasing visibility in the region’s leading solar event, MENASOL (6-7 May, Dubai).
The market potential for solar, the local content requirement and the need for local partnerships in major markets such as Saudi Arabia, is bringing the leading international EPC companies and component suppliers to the region to meet local partners.
In particular, the local content requirement set by The King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy outlines that a minimum of 20% is required to receive any points for upcoming bids in Saudi Arabia. However, the higher the percentage the more points a company will receive. This has resulted in the international CSP engineering, procurement and component supply chain aiming for at least 50% localisation.
The key local and the international players will gather at MENASOL this May. Project manager Sarah Kingham from CSP today says “with ten week to go until MENASOL 2014, we see a 60% increase on last year in confirmed sponsors and exhibitors”.
MENASOL’s lead Sponsor is AREVA Solar, Silver Sponsors are DuPont Photovoltaics, NEST
Bronze Sponsor are Huiyin Group, Chadbourne & Parke, Wi-Fi Sponsor is Therminol, Eastman company, Lanyards Sponsor is SolarReserve, and sponsors are RaysPower (China), RioGlass Solar, SkyFuel, SolarFrontier, First Solar and Global Premier.
