Ingeteam will be in charge of the detailed engineering of a 50-MW concentrated solar power (CSP) project in China.
The firm previously won a basic engineering contract for the Qinghai Delingha project and it will now continue work with the developer, CGN Delingha Solar Energy Co Ltd, a unit of China General Nuclear Power Corp (CGN). The detailed engineering job involves the process design, mechanics, electrics, instrumentation and control of the solar power plant.
The solar thermal park will have 7.5 hours or 1,300 MWt of thermal energy storage capacity using molten salt. It is expected to start power generation at end-2017, producing over 210 GW annually. Some financing for the project is coming from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Ingeteam says this is the first commercial-scale CSP to be built in China. In September 14 China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) released a list of 20 CSP demonstration projects with a combined capacity of 1,349 MW that it will aim to put on stream by the end of 2018.
