The Moroccan government has chosen six research and development (R&D) projects involving novel solar thermal and concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies to receive USD 2.3 million in funding.

The Moroccan government also announced the selection of 11 renewable energy projects to receive USD 4.9 million in funding.

The call for proposals included solar cooling technologies as well as CSP and solar thermal for steam and drying applications, and was open to projects to develop and improve components and storage as well as network integration. The Moroccan Institute for Research on Solar Energy and New Energy (IRESEN) did not provide information on the projects that were selected.

During a signing ceremony for this funding the Moroccan government has also presented the results of a 2014 solicitation for renewable energy, reporting that 11 projects have been selected for the second phase and will benefit from USD 4.9 million in funding.
