Opportunities to forge partnerships in the field of clean energy were at the heart of the 2nd Spanish-Moroccan meeting on renewable energies, attended by twenty Spanish enterprises.

The meeting aims to inform Spanish operators about the opportunities to establish partnerships and businesses with Moroccan counterparts.

Spanish renewable energy enterprises, which are considered world leaders in this field, are willing to invest in Morocco’s "promising market", said Secretary General of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tangier Rocio Estevez.

Morocco’s solar energy project is of particular interest to Spanish operators, he added.

The meeting was held by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Spanish Association for renewable energy producers.

Among the 500 big Spanish enterprises operating in Morocco, dozens are specialized in renewable energies, such as Abengoa-Inabensa, Isofton and Gamesa-eolica, the Spanish Embassy to Rabat said.

Morocco’s large-scale solar energy project, worth $9 billion, aims to generate 2000 MW by 2020 and reduce dependence on oil and gas imports.
