Shanghai Electric, the leading equipment manufacturer and EPC contractor of power industry, won the bids of steam turbine and air cooling unit for a 110MW Concentrated Solar Power project in China, through its subsidiary Shanghai Turbine Company and Shanghai Electric SPX respectively in March 2022.
The 110MW CSP project with 8 hours storage was developed by Huidong New Energy, a SPV established by East China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd, and was one of the 1.3GW CSP projects recently announced and approved since 2021. The project open the bid of EPC last November, which was without any doubt granted to East China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.
It was part of a multi-energy complementary complex, together with 640WM PV, with total capacity of 750MW and investment of RMB 5,060 Million. With a total land area of 20.6 sq KM, the project was expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
As was declared clearly in “Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030”, an official statement released by the State Council of China, “…to promote Concentrated Solar Power development actively, and establish Renewable Energy Composite Complex integrating CSP, PV and Wind…”, over 1GW of CSP projects were planned and approved in Dec 2021, and should be commissioned by 2023, which means all of these projects will and have to kick off early 2022.
