Solar Trust of America, the nation’s leading integrated solar industrial company, announced the appointment of Edward L. Sullivan as Vice President of Corporate Communications and External Affairs. Mr. Sullivan will oversee Solar Trust’s corporate communications, government affairs, marketing and investor relations activities. Mr. Sullivan brings over 15 years of relevant professional experience in government affairs, communications, political strategy, and management to his new position at Solar Trust.

Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Solar Trust of America’s recent news after receiving conditional commitment from the Department of Energy for a $2.1 billion loan guarantee. The federal loan will fund the development and construction of the first phase of the company’s 1,000 MW Blythe Solar Power Project in Riverside County, CA. The first phase of the project will include two independent 242MW plants delivering 484 MW of net generating capacity, making it the largest solar power plant in the world.

Diverse Background in Solar Industry, Communications and Politics

Edward Sullivan is Vice President of Communications and External Affairs for Solar Trust of America. Before joining Solar Trust, Mr. Sullivan founded ELS Consulting LLC, a marketing and communications consultancy in the Bay Area focused on companies engaged in the solar energy industry. Previously, Mr. Sullivan was the Director of the Cleantech Practice at Antenna Group, a prominent Bay Area technology public relations agency with clients in photovoltaics, solar thermal, biofuels, energy efficiency and other cleantech sectors.

Before joining Antenna, Sullivan was a senior consultant for the international campaigns team at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, the world’s leading progressive polling and political strategy firm in Washington, D.C. Mr. Sullivan holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Bucknell University.
