Chevron Corp.’s Hawaii operation is planning to develop a solar thermal demonstration project at its Kapolei refinery.
“Through this demonstration, we want to determine the feasibility of using solar power for enhanced oil recovery,” said Desmond King, president of Chevron Technology Ventures.
The company is incurring heavy financial losses of about $40.2 million, which company officials claim is $29.7 million more than “originally anticipated”.
