South African power utility Eskom has secured a €75m loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support its 100MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in the Northern Cape.
Once fully developed the !Ka Xu concentrated solar thermal plant will collect solar energy using parabolic trough technology.
The funds will support renewable energy schemes, including wind energy, photovoltaic, concentrated solar power, biomass units and transmission lines for renewables, EIB said.
