Sialsol is a Spanish engineering company with a strong presence in the field of Solar Thermal Power Plants worldwide. More than a one year ago, resulting from development of over 300 MWe, we drafted a Technical Manual on Solar Thermal Plant to help understand a technology, which is expected to growth spectacularly. Due to the success of this Technical Manual and the interest shown by many Anglo-speaking professionals, from Sialsol we are pleased to announce that the Technical Manual is now available in English.

Solar Thermal Electric Power is an excellent alternative for electric power production in countries like Spain, with high levels of normal solar radiation.

There are currently two types of technology:

Thanks to the use of an HTF (Heat Transfer Fluid). In this case, the heat fluid in the solar field and the working fluid in the power block are different. Oils and molten salts are currently used as HTFs. There are three possibilities for this technology.

Parabolic trough collector.
Tower concentration systems.
Stirling disk systems.

At Sialsol we are currently developing a number of different projects with parabolic trough collector technology.

Direct Steam Generation (DSG). The fluid from the solar field is the same as that which will subsequently expand in the turbine. At Sialsol, in our constant quest for innovation, we are undertaking different research projects, in close collaboration with several German companies, to use DSG in power plants with up to 10 MW of power.
Sialsol services include the following:

    Technical-economic feasibility studies.
    Site evaluation and selection.
    Permits, licences and authorisations.
    Environmental impact studies.
    Basic engineering.
    Project Management.
