On June 28, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC)  released the tender announcement of EPC and Project Supervisor for a 100 MW Concentrated Solar Power Project, which is part of the CNNC Yumen 700MW «CSP + PV + Wind » Demonstration Project.

CNNC Yumen 700MW «CSP + PV + Wind » Demonstration Project, with a planned total installed capacity of 700MW, includes 100MW molten salt linear Fresnel CSP, 400MW PV, 200MW Wind, and a new 330kV convergence station will be built, which will be connected to the 330kV side of 750kV substation. The project is invested and constructed by CNNC Yumen Xin’ao New Energy Company Limited, and the land area is about 45 square kilometers. Among them, the CSP and PV field covers an area of 15 square kilometers, and the site is located in the Yumen Huahai Solar Energy Base; the wind power field covers an area of 30 square kilometers, and the site is located in the Yumen Hongliuquan Wind Power Storage Integrated Energy Demonstration Base. The project is scheduled to be fully connected to the grid in December 2023.

Project Investor and Developer

The project owner is Yumen Xin’ao New Energy Co., Ltd., a joint venture of Gansu Bocheng Tongda Energy Co., Ltd and and Shaanxi Xinhua Water Conservancy and Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd., the latter a subsidiary of CNNC Xinhua Hydropower Co. Ltd. CNNC is the major investor, developer and operator of nuclear power plant in China, and expanding its footprint in non-nuclear RE business through its subsidiary CNNC Xinhua Hydropower Co., Ltd. The 100MW project is the first CSP invested and developed by CNNC.
