Concentrated solar power (CSP) holds promise for safe, clean energy

logotipo-ariesCSP, or concentrated solar power, enjoys a lot of unique advantages over photovoltaics (PV).
Solar power — the conversion of sunlight into electricity — is either direct, using photovoltaics, or indirect, using concentrated solar power.
CSP is a high quality, clean form of power, and with mature technology, can provide a steady round-the-clock power supply. It also has an edge in terms of cost.
Also, the high energy consumption and high pollution in the production of PV does not appear in the production chain of the CSP industry. The latter is an environmentally friendly type of clean energy.
CSP not only generates power, but its high quality power can be used in a wide variety of fields, such as replacing coal-burning boilers in cities, said the report.
China began to realize the importance of CSP as early as 2003, but it was unable to implement its commercialization over the past decade because of a lack of a key policy support system. But China has finally joined the ranks of top countries in terms of the research and development of CSP technology after years of efforts.
At the China International CSP Station Conference & CSPPLAZA 2015 in Beijing, Liang Jipeng, a deputy director of new and renewable energy at the National Energy Administration, stressed China’s determination to develop CSP.
