RayGen Resources has secured A$3 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to conduct a feasibility study for a pilot Concentrated Solar Power plant that uses water as storage medium. Located at Carwarp in north-west Victoria, the facility would deliver 4 MW of solar power generation, including 17 hours [...]
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has released a report saying that concentrated solar thermal (CST) technology could have commercial viable form of dispatchable renewable energy within a decade. This report was prepared by ITP Thermal has found a strong confidence in CST, with many global industry players showing interest [...]
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) reports a strong response from industry and investors on concentrated solar thermal (CST). This follows ARENA’s call for information from industry, solar manufacturers and green energy investors about CST. The call ended on 31 July, and ARENA is now evaluating responses to see how [...]
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has launched a request for information on all types of CSP technologies in order to define the scope and focus of government assistance for solar thermal deployment. Government-owned ARENA has invited CSP industry participants such as developers, investors, original equipment manufacturers and offtakers, [...]
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has set out its plans for seeking industry information as the first step in exploring how concentrated sunlight could generate reliable, affordable renewable energy with built-in storage for our national grids. The new call aligns with the federal government’s offer to make up to $110 [...]
A project that could lead to the use of solar thermal technology by Australia’s large industrial sector – and cut its reliance on fossil fuels in half – has been selected by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency in its latest round of funding. Led by the University of Adelaide, the [...]
Alinta Energy and the ARENA’s announcement that they will pursue stand-alone Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technology in their full feasibility study has been met with praise and overwhelming support.
The proposed concentrated solar power project (CSP) project would be based on Abengoa's tower technology.
ARENA announced on Wednesday it would contribute $1million to the study, with $1.2 million to come from Alinta and a further $123,000 from the state government.
The technology of CSP systems has reached a high level of commercial maturity and the level of deployment has been growing at around 40 per cent per year since 2005.
ARENA proposed a new program for the support of CSP projects, continued support for solar energy R&D and working to devise a new program to support solar photovoltaic (PV) project development.
